Tayr Debba

Pearl supports the inhabitants of Tayr Debba in the south of Lebanon, south-east of Tyres. Pearl would like to establish facilities to improve the living conditions in this village.
The president of Pearl visits Tayr Debba regularly to discuss the plans with its inhabitants.

The village of Tayr Debba has 6000 inhabitants and severely struck by the war whereas the inhabitants has very little even before the war. is
Due to the war a whole family (a father, mother, their 3 children and grandfather and grandmother) and a thirty year old man were killed. Many houses were heavily damaged and the houses of 13 families are in ruins. Furthermore, the electricity grid was destroyed and there is a lot of damage to the roads and the farming land. The citrus trees suffered terribly and many undetonated bombs were left in the surroundings of the village.

The words of the inhabitants of Tayr Debba are : “Many aid goes to the big cities in Lebanon. A small village like ours is forgotten. When we heard that Pearl wanted to help us we were very happy. We had to think about what was needed and was useful to the entire village. We would like to do something for the children in our village. ”

Playground with park in Tayr Debba

Because of the lack of financial means the village of Tayr Debba has no public domain or public services. The town council of Tayr Debba would like to realise facilities which benefit the entire village. A playground with a park is valuable to the children of the village and also to the older villagers.

Computer project Tayr Debba

Tayr Debba's town council does not have the means to offer computer facilities and computer education to young people. Therefore they are asking for help to realise a computer class in which 20 students at a time can be taught. The aim is to set up this project in cooperation with a village or a district in the Netherlands and to launch a website which is administered by both children from Tayr Debba and the Netherlands in order to get a dialogue started.
